Our aim is to provide a challenging and inspiring curriculum within a safe and supportive working environment, enabling all students to achieve their potential. In introducing students to the richness and diversity of literary, non-fiction and media texts and in giving them carefully structured opportunities to write, we want them to learn about themselves and the world they live in and about the power of language. We attach equal importance to developing students' skills in reading, writing and speaking and listening. Teachers here seek to establish a dialogue with individual students to help them to set goals and to achieve them. As a department we make the most of our resources and facilities through creative collaboration and consistency of approach and in doing so, we aim to establish and nurture a community of independent readers and writers.
