The Mary McDonald Memorial Award

Two former students recently returned to the sixth form to recieve this years' Mary McDonnell Memorial Award. Elizabeth Garlick and Stephanie Wagner Fairhurstl and Fiona Akech recieved the prizes in recognition of their hard work, academic progress, willingness to participate in the life of the sixth form and their positive relationships with others. The award offers financial support for their first year in further education and is named after a former member of staff who dedicated herself to the pastoral care of sixth form students.

A group of five Year 9 students and one year 13 student fought off some stiff competition and a testing interview panel to emerge as winners of the 'Shelia Mc Kechnie Shout Out! Campaigner Award 2009', sponsored by the City Bridge Trust.

The team have now started to plan their campaign and are working with Deepa Patel, a highly experienced campaigner, trainer, events organiser and fundraiser. We look forward to hearing more about the Child Labour  campaign in a few weeks' time.
