This is an Open Art Studio for pupils in Year 7 and run by Year 12 pupils. Pupils are given a free reign to produce their own artwork. Try something new such as clay, paint, mosaics or plasticine.
3D Animation

Come and learn how to animate! You will use the computers to create short animations that you’ve written and created. Pupils can enter termly competitions, take animations home or put them on the internet.

The Group is designed for pupils to express their feelings through art. Media such as paints/charcoal and clay are used. It is a confidential safe group co-ordinated by an art therapist. Pupils must speak to Ms Sommer for an informal chat before.

The club provides a great opportunity for 'budding actresses' or anyone trying to build their confidence. From improvisation to script work, drama games, character work, using your voice and expressing emotions using physical skills.

This club is run by theatre practitioner Jessica Francombe. Jessica uses physical theatre, scripts, puppets and props to make theatre come to life. Any student who wishes to explore a more creative form of drama would be more than welcome to attend.

This club enters nationwide competitions, such as the Toyota Challenge, in which the group had to design, build and race a computer controlled miniature buggy. Last year LSU reached the final of this competition out of 130 entrants, which resulted in an exciting day out at the finals at the Imperial War museum, Duxford. Students have the opportunity to use the workshop to design and build their projects.
Improve your cycling

Wear PE kit, trainers + waterproof (cycle + helmet provided)
This course is for those who can ride a bike but would like to become more confident cycling on quiet roads. We will give priority to those who would like to cycle to school and who are near enough to do so. This is a free course but you will need to ask your parents to complete a permission slip. Students work towards the ‘Bikeability’ certificate.

A time for pupils to use the gym equipment independently. Instruction will be given by a teacher. Pupils can use running machines, rowing machines, cross-trainers, bicycles and a variety of weights for resistance training.

Astronomy is one of the oldest sciences and yet astronomers are continually visiting new worlds, discovering new elements to the solar system and exploring phenomena such as black holes, the Big Bang and life on Mars. It is dynamics such as these, that make the study of astronomy a stimulating experience.
Anti-Bullying Group

This group will be working to make the school a safer and more welcoming place for everybody. We will be looking at ways in which to prevent bullying from happening. We will also be looking at what happens when bullying does occur and how the school should best deal with it. We will help to write school policy and to find practical ways of stopping bullying, both in and out of school, and to make sure that students are protected from bullying on the internet.

The eco committee get their message across to staff and students by speaking at assembly to promote issues such as water supply, usage and conservation at a global level with the intention of discouraging water wastage on a local scale, at school and in the home. This year they will also look to appoint some light monitors in a bid to reduce energy wastage in school.

Peer Mentors are specially training year 11, 12 and 13 students who are able to listen to and support other students. Years 7, 8 and 9 will be invited to meet a mentor at some point in the year, but dropping in is also great. If students would like to talk to a peer mentor about anything then they can either drop in to the student centre one lunch time or ask their head of year.

Global Generation Project

We would like to recruit 3 Global Generators and 7 additional planners to start a garden project within the grounds of La Sainte Union. This will be part of a fantastic cross Camden school and business development. Most of the work will be after school on Fridays for one hour with Mr Grocott. We will begin this project by planning the new garden area and from next spring we will begin to grow our own fruit and vegetables. Ask Mr Grocott for more details and an application form.
European Youth Parliament Debating Society

This is a very prestigious event at the Foreign and Commonwealth Office, held in March 2010. It is a day of debates between teams from some of the most successful schools in the South-East. Students prepare six debates on international issues in the weeks prior to the event.
