Drama

Welcome to La Sainte Union Drama Department

Whilst exploring different issues and texts in Drama, we look at developing the performance skills of the students at LSU. At Key Stage Three all students will explore various drama techniques and genres. They will also concentrate on using language, gesture, tone of voice, movement and space. We hope to increase the confidence, coordination and concentration of the girls in our drama classes. As well as inspiring gifted and talented students, drama can increase the confidence of students who find it difficult to perform and speak in public.

By Key Stage Four the students will develop their skills further and hone their performance techniques whilst using a variety of plays, poems, novels and other stimuli. They will continue to evaluate and respond to their own work and the work of others both verbally and in their GCSE written coursework.

We want Drama to be inclusive for all students and there are lots of extra-curricular opportunities for all the girls right the way through the school, from joining drama clubs to performing in professional theatre spaces. We have strong links and work with outside theatres such as the Hampstead Theatre and the Bloomsbury Theatre and also with students from RADA.

We aim to make Drama lessons accessible, stimulating, enjoyable and inclusive for everyone.
