KS3 Level guide

In Key Stage 3 your daughters progress will be matched against the criteria in the level descriptions below. An understanding of these may help you to guide her in her homework.

 

Level 3-

·         Pupils can explore ideas and collect limited visual information to help them develop their work.

·         They can draw, paint, record from observation to a limited standard.

·         They use their knowledge and understanding of materials and artists work to help them make artefacts and communicate ideas.

·         They are able to review their own work and the work of others.

·         They can use limited art words in their analysis of work.

·         They can complete a final piece to a limited standard.

 

Level 4-

·         Pupils can explore ideas and collect limited visual information to help them develop their work.

·         They can draw, paint, record from observation to a basic standard.

·         They use their knowledge and understanding of materials and artists work to help them make artefacts and communicate ideas.

·         They are able to review their own work and the work of others.

·         They can use basic art words in their analysis of work.

·         They can complete a final piece to a basic standard.

 

Level 5-

·         Pupils can explore ideas and collect visual information to help them develop their work.

·         They can draw, paint record from observation to a competent standard.

·         They use their knowledge and understanding of materials and artists work to make artefacts and communicate ideas.

·         They are able to analyse and their own work and the work of others.

·         They can use a range of art words in their analysis.

·         They can review their work and make changes to it to improve it.

·         They can complete a final piece to a competent standard.

 

Level 6

·         Pupils can explore ideas and collect visual and other information to help them develop their work.

·         They can draw, paint record from observation to a confident standard.

·         They use their knowledge and understanding of materials and artists work to make artefacts and communicate ideas.

·         They are able to analyse and comment on their own work and the work of others.

·         They can use art words appropriately and show understanding in their analysis.

·         They can review their work and make changes to improve it.

·         They can complete a final piece to a confident standard showing understanding of art works studied in the project.

 

 

Level 7

  • Pupils can explore ideas independently and collect a range of visual and other information to help them develop their work.

·         Shows enthusiasm and puts a consistently high level of care and attention into all work- c/w and h/w. 

·         They can draw, paint record from observation to a high standard.

·         They use their knowledge and understanding of materials and artists work to make imaginative artefacts and communicate ideas.

·         They are able to analyse and comment on their own work and the work of others.

·         They can use appropriate art words in their analysis.

           They can review their work and make changes to improve it
